A crown or veneer trip to Antalya is usually seven days with three or four appointments, and roughly half of those days are yours. The first trip for implants is shorter, about five days, but the day after surgery is not one you plan anything for.

This guide walks through a typical treatment week day by day, so you know which days are fixed, which are free, and where the plan can still change. Your written plan sets the real timetable for your mouth. What follows is the pattern most cases fit.

Arrival day: land in daylight and do nothing else

Day zero is travel. You land at Antalya Airport, a driver or taxi takes you into the city, and you check in. That is the whole day, and it should be.

Aim for an afternoon or early evening arrival. A flight that lands at 2am, followed by a morning scan and possibly an anaesthetic, is how people end up nodding through decisions they did not take in. Our guide to flying to Antalya for dental treatment covers airports, transfers and the flight times worth avoiding.

Eat a proper meal that evening. If day one turns into preparation, you will be numb until mid-afternoon and chewing carefully for the rest of it.

Day one: the scan, the exam and the last chance to change the plan

The first appointment is the consultation in person. You have a CBCT scan, a 3D X-ray of the jaw, and the dentist examines your teeth against the plan you agreed on video. Allow most of a morning.

This is where the plan can still move. The scan sometimes shows an infection at a root tip, a crack under an old filling, or less bone than the panoramic X-ray suggested. If something is added, you should be shown it on the screen and given the price from the same published list before anyone touches the tooth.

Bring your questions written down. Ask what happens if a tooth turns out to need root canal treatment, and how many extra days that adds. A root canal before a crown can stretch the week by a day or two, which is one reason the flight home should not be fixed until now.

For veneers, this is also the day you should see a mock-up of the new shape on your own teeth before anything is drilled. If the shape or length is wrong, say so now. It costs nothing to change at this stage.

Day one or two: preparation, the longest morning of the week

Preparation is often the same day as the scan, sometimes the next morning. The tooth is numbed, shaped with the handpiece, and scanned with an intraoral camera so the lab has an exact digital model. You feel pressure and vibration, not pain.

For a large case of eight or ten teeth, expect two to three hours in the chair. You get breaks, but it is still a long sit with your mouth open. Take painkillers you know you tolerate before the numbness wears off, not after.

The shade is taken in daylight, and you leave with temporary crowns or veneers. They look reasonable and they are weak. They are bonded lightly so they come off easily later, and that also means they can come off over a crusty roll.

Days three to five: the lab works and you do not

These are the free days. The technician is building the restorations from the scan, and there is nothing for you to do at the clinic.

Our partner clinic has its lab on site, which changes the shape of these days slightly. The technician can call you in for twenty minutes to look at a shade in natural light rather than guessing from a photograph. Keep your phone on and do not book anything you cannot leave early. You can read more about how the lab and surgery work together on our clinic page.

Otherwise, the time is yours. With temporaries in, the rules are simple:

  • Avoid hard and sticky food: nuts, crusty bread, toffee, ice.
  • Do not bite into anything with your front teeth. Cut it up.
  • Drink coffee or red wine by all means, but the temporaries may stain and that does not matter.
  • Swimming, walking and boat trips are fine.

Antalya suits these days well. The old town, the harbour and the waterfalls are all within a short taxi ride. Our guide to things to do in Antalya lists what is sensible with a mouth full of temporaries, and where to stay in Antalya explains why staying close to the clinic makes these days easier.

Day five or six: the try-in that decides how it looks

The try-in is the appointment people underestimate. The temporaries come off and the finished crowns or veneers go on without permanent cement. You and the dentist check the bite, the colour and how each one meets the gum.

Look in a hand mirror, then at a distance in a wall mirror, then in daylight by a window if you can. Smile properly, not politely. If a tooth looks too long, too white or too square, this is the time to say it. Once the restorations are cemented, changing them means cutting them off.

A remake for shade or shape usually costs a day. With an on-site lab it can sometimes be the same afternoon. With an outside lab it can be two days and an anxious wait.

Day six or seven: final fit, bite check and a spare day

The final fit is shorter than people expect. Each crown or veneer is bonded in turn, excess cement is cleared from the gum line, and the bite is checked with articulating paper until nothing catches.

A crown that sits a fraction high feels fine in the chair while you are still numb. It shows up the next morning as a sore tooth on chewing. That is why the fit should never be the morning of your flight. Leave one clear day, and go back for a ten-minute adjustment if your bite feels wrong.

Before you leave, you should be handed copies of your X-rays and scans, the list of materials used for each tooth, and written aftercare instructions. Your UK dentist will ask for all three.

How the week changes for implants and All-on-4

Implants follow a different rhythm, because surgery replaces the lab as the thing that sets the pace. The table shows how the three most common first trips compare.

Trip Our Antalya price Typical stay Appointments Free days The day to keep empty
Crowns, zirconia £170 per tooth 6 to 7 days 3 to 4 2 to 3 The day after the final fit
Veneers, E-max £210 per tooth 6 to 7 days 3 to 4 2 to 3 The day after the final fit
Single implant, first trip £410 About 5 days 2 to 3 1 to 2 The day after surgery
All-on-4, first trip £3,099 About 7 days 4 to 5 1 to 2 Days two and three after surgery

For a single implant, surgery usually falls on day one or two, followed by a check a few days later. You go home with the implant healing under the gum and come back three to six months later for the permanent crown.

All-on-4 is the heaviest week. Extractions and implant placement happen on the same day, and the fixed temporary bridge is usually fitted within a few days. Swelling tends to peak on the second or third day after surgery, so those are days on the sofa, not in the old town. Our page on All-on-4 implants covers what happens on the second trip.

What to keep free and what not to book

The simplest rule is to book nothing you would mind cancelling. Appointments move, a shade goes back to the lab, a bite needs another look.

After any surgery, skip the hamam, the sauna and hot sun on the face for the first few days. Heat brings swelling up. Skip alcohol while you are taking antibiotics and for at least the first day after an extraction. If you smoke, the week of surgery is the one to stop, because smoking is one of the clearest reasons implants fail to fuse.

Do not plan a boat trip or a long excursion for the day after implant surgery, even if you feel fine that evening. The anaesthetic hides how the next day will feel.

If you are travelling with someone, the day of surgery and the day after are when they earn their place. For crowns and veneers, most people manage alone without trouble.

Questions about a dental trip to Antalya

How many days do I need in Antalya for veneers or crowns? Usually six to seven days on the ground, plus travel. Large cases or teeth that need a root canal first take the longer end. Your written plan states the number before you book the return flight.

Can I go sightseeing during dental treatment in Antalya? Yes, on the lab days between preparation and try-in. Keep your phone on in case the technician wants to check a shade, and avoid hard food with temporaries in.

How long is the first trip for dental implants? About five days for a single implant and about seven for All-on-4. The second trip, months later, is for the permanent teeth and is usually five to seven days.

What is the hardest day of the week? For crowns and veneers, the preparation morning, simply because it is the longest time in the chair. For implants, the day after surgery, when swelling and soreness build.

Can I fly home the day of my final fitting? It is better not to. A bite that is slightly high often only shows up the next day, and fixing it takes ten minutes in Antalya but much longer at home.

Do I need to bring anything to the first appointment? Bring any recent X-rays on your phone, a list of your medicines with doses, and your written plan. Write your questions down beforehand, because the scan appointment is where the plan can still change.
